MSI Plessey

MSI (also known as Modified Plessey) is a barcode symbology developed by the MSI Data Corporation, based on the original Plessey Code symbology from 1971. MSI is used primarily for inventory control, marking storage containers and shelves in warehouse environments.

It is a continuous symbology that is not self-checking. The MSI bar code represents only digits 0-9; it does not support letters or symbols. The structure consists of a start character, data digits, an optional check digit, and a stop character. ActiveBarcode does not add a check digit automatically but you can calculate and add one manually.

MSI Plessey is widely used in applications like shelf labeling, warehouse inventory, and point-of-sale systems. By implementing MSI Plessey barcodes, businesses can streamline their inventory processes and improve data accuracy.
