Description of PDF417
PDF417 is a two-dimensional (2D) code based on stacked barcodes (stack code). The characters used are encoded in codewords. Each codeword consists of 17 modules, each of which consists of four bars and four spaces.PDF417 is a highly compact and flexible code with variable length. Up to 1,108 bytes can be encoded.
Error Correction Level:
PDF417 uses a different error correction level (ECL) depending on the code length. If fewer than 41 codewords are used, ECL2 is employed. For 41-160 codewords, ECL3 is used. For 161-320 codewords, ECL4 is used. For 321 or more codewords, ECL5 is used.
