Description of DUN-14

The DUN-14 uses either the ITF-14 or the GTIN-14 (Global Trade Item Number). Modern installations use the GTIN-14.
Here's a comparison of the ITF-14 with the GTIN-14. The encoded number sequence is 3071234500001.

And now the ITF-14:
The structure of the DUN-14 is as follows:
- The first digit indicates the quantity of goods in the container: 1=6 pieces, 2=10 pieces, 3=12 pieces, 4=20 pieces, 5=24 pieces. The digits 6, 7, and 8 indicate a different quantity and are not fixed.
- The following 12 digits represent the product code. This is usually the GTIN-13 number without the check digit of the GTIN-13, i.e. only the first 12 digits of the GTIN-13. If an GTIN-8 is used, the missing digits on the left are filled with zeros.
- The last digit is the check digit. ActiveBarcode calculates this check digit automatically. You do not need to calculate the check digit yourself.
